Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Public Information Manager, this position is responsible for the development and execution of internal communications plans within the Regina Police Service; basic maintenance and content creation on the "intranet", and assists the Public Information Manager with strategic internal communication strategy, general communication tactics and corporate event management.

 

(1) Assist in the research, creation, management, execution and evaluation of organizational communications plans and strategies to engage internal audiences. 
(2) Collaborate with internal stakeholders in order to ensure effective and consistent application of communication strategies and tactics that resonate with both sworn and civilian employees.
(3) Ensure communication and marketing tactics are inclusive, accessible and maintain the integrity of the Regina Police Service brand.
(4) Assist in the development and execution of internal communication plans and tactics (digital and hard copy posters, newsletters, memos, intranet content, photography, videos and other content). These efforts will directly support the RPS strategic goal to ‘Enhance Workplace Culture’.
(5) Assist in the creation of content for a variety of digital mediums including, but not limited to, intranet/website and external social media.
(6) Assist in the creation of the new RPS intranet site and, following its launch, manage and populate the site. 
(7) Other related duties as required.

Competencies


(1)    Degree or diploma in marketing, communications or public relations, or equivalent experience. Minimum three years experience in a public relations or communications-focused change management role. 
(2)    Proven ability, past experience and strong working knowledge of graphic design and photography. Videography experience is an asset. 
(3)    A basic understanding of internal strategic planning, communication strategies, and best practices within a highly complex organization and fast paced environment. 
(4)    Knowledge of the justice and/or policing environment would be an asset.
(5)    Proven experience working with Sharepoint software applications. 
(6)    Superior writing and communication skills. Ability to express and communicate ideas, concepts and complex programs, both written and orally, to a variety of audiences.  Proficient in the English language.  Demonstrated writing, editing, proofreading and researching skills.
(7)    Proven experience and ability to manage many projects having competing deadlines with attention to accuracy, consistency and collaboration with others.
(8)    Demonstrated and documented effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work alone or in a team environment.
(9)    Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
