Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Public Information Manager, the Communications Strategist is primarily responsible for the development and execution of internal communications activities within the Regina Police Service. This includes maintaining and creating content for the Service’s new internal website.  In addition, the Communications Strategist will assist with the internal communication strategy, general communication tactics and event management. 

 

(1)   Support the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of internal communication initiatives that help keep our employees informed, engaged, and connected.
(2)   Partner with teams across the Regina Police Service to create and deliver communications that are clear, consistent, and meaningful for both sworn officers and civilian professionals. 
(3)   Help ensure all communications and marketing materials are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with the Regina Police Service brand.
(4)   Assist in creating and sharing a variety of content, including digital and printed materials such as posters, memos, intranet content, photography, videos, and other engaging content. Your work will directly contribute to our strategic goal of enhancing workplace culture.
(5)   Play an important role in the development and launch of the new RPS intranet site, and help manage, update and grow the platform after launch.

 

Competencies


(1)   Degree or diploma in marketing, communications or public relations, or equivalent experience. Minimum three (3) years experience in a public relations or communications-focused role. Change management experience is an asset.
(2)   Proven experience working with SharePoint or similar intranet/content management platforms, particularly in creating, publishing and maintaining intranet content. 
(3)   Basic graphic design experience.  Photography and videography experience is an asset. 
(4)   Superior writing and communication skills. Ability to express and communicate ideas, concepts and complex programs, both written and orally, to a variety of audiences. Proficient in the English language. Demonstrated writing, editing and proofreading skills. 
(5)   Proven experience and ability to manage many projects having competing deadlines with attention to accuracy, consistency and collaboration with others.
(6)   Proven interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to excel both independently and collaboratively within a team.
(7)   Knowledge of the justice and/or policing environment is an asset.
(8)   Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
(9)   Other related duties as required.
